Spring is a time to rejuvenate; a time to make a fresh start! Are you looking at updating your home or office decor? Adding a new piece of artwork is always an affordable option.
At my Contact exhibition at the Gladstone Hotel, I am releasing some fabulous work shot around Colonel Samuel Smith Park in Toronto's West End. In addition, I have a wide selection of other work spanning a broad range of subjects (landscape, floral, still life, urban, etc).
I enjoy creating artwork that spans a broad spectrum of subjects. When you shoot in a studio, you need to compose in front of the camera. You have to ask yourself, 'what do you want to say'. Whereas, when you shoot in the field, you compose from behind the camera. You use what is presented to you to make the statement. Because of the different approaches, it has allowed me to further develop my artistic style.
I select subjects for my artwork because there is a personal interest or connection. Then, I look at what dimensions, such as clouds and shadows, I can add to the picture that will create a unique feeling or emotion that will capture your interest.

This is my seventh consecutive Contact exhibition. I call my 2009 Contact Exhibition 'Preserving the Past for Today". It is an extension of my 2008 Contact exhibition where I explored the gentrification of Toronto's urban landscape. This exhibit presents a view of the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital and how the old world charm of the 19th century buildings have been retained and at the same time put to a productive use. It is now a great public space for Toronto. I am excited to release twelve fabulous pieces of artwork that I have created this Spring. I am introducing several pieces in a square format. You can view all the artwork on the Urban Page of the website.
