~~ art with a human touch! ~~
Hello Friends,
I am excited to announce an updated branding statement " ~~ art with a human touch! ~~ "
You may ask why? Based on today's discussion in the artworld around the recent introduction of "Artificial Intelligence (A.I.)," it is important to highlight how my artwork is uniquely different from A.I. as well as digital processing and printing.
Artificial Intelligence may have advantages in certain industries or activities. However, I believe in creating artwork with A. I., the art will lack personality and humanity.
Let me explain.
When I compose the image either behind the camera in the field or in front of the camera in the studio, my composition is a complex mixture of current personal feelings, and life experiences, and environmental conditions. If there are any changes in these elements, your image will be completely different. The composition process is very dynamic and personal.
Printing in the darkroom is a complex process. Using traditional black and white chemistry, the addition of many new variables occurs such as the quality of the chemicals, humidity, room and liquid temperatures and how many prints have been processed. Something as simple as music playing can influence how I apply light to the print.
Unlike a digital print of an image with each copy the exact same, each silver gelatin print will have subtle differences. In essences, you have an original. In fact, I could have a new perspective on the image, making it completely different.
Can Artificial Intelligence create a piece of art? Yes, it can, but the created image will lack the artist's personality and humanity.
The artist's creative process is very dynamic and is influenced by several factors. One factor, that cannot be anticipated, "what the artist is thinking or feeling at the time of capture or printing."
Photography competitions have started to recognize Artificial Intelligence by either restricting A. I. images or establishing a separate category.
In this digitalized world, I believe that creating my unique artwork using traditional photography methods effectively communicates my story. Through the depth and warmth of silver gelatin prints, my story will capture and engage the art collector or enthusiast.
Cheers,
Dale
Medalist Awards and Series WinnersSubmissions to juried competitions is an important business strategy to independently evaluate my artwork and to market my art across a diverse group of art collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts. Despite subjective platform, my curated submissions have been successful in achieving global exposure, publications, and exhibitions. This competition, with a world class jury, is extremely competitive as most of the submissions are submitted by creative agencies or studios. This represents a significant accomplishment. Happy Pride 2023Society today has changed and not for the better even in Canada. With the rise of right-wing extremism, hate, and anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, it was important to address the subject through a social media post. I curated an image titled "Diversity - Stronger Together." The four mushroom images represent a metaphor of today's diverse society. To read the social media post, please click here. |
Mushroom Inspired FashionBreaking News – Paris, France, January 24, 2023 My creative vision uses the mushroom's bizarre and varied shape, alien textures, and intricate detail combined with composition and lighting to present crisp images with a dose of abstraction. The abstraction makes unique images allowing the viewer to personalize the image based on their imagination and life experiences. You may ask, what is the connection between my handcrafted silver gelatin mushroom prints and fashion. To view video and read full story, please click here. |
